Cholesterol Reduction

The natural dietary fibre in PromOat™ beta glucan is proven to lower cholesterol by actively absorbing bile acids and bile salts in the intestines and carrying them out of the body.
Bile acids and bile salts are produced via a mechanism involving cholesterol metabolism and removal from the body directly stimulates removal of cholesterol from the blood.

To make specific claims the FDA* and EFSA** authorities recommend that 0.75g of oat beta glucan is ingested per serving of food. For example a standard drink serving is 200ml, which must contain the 0.75g dose of Beta Glucan. This is effectively a 0.36% solution of beta glucan in the liquid.

FDA Claim: "Soluble fiber from foods such as [source/product], as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease. A serving of [name of food product ] supplies __  grams of the 3 grams necessary per day to have this effect."

EFSA Claim: "Regular consumption of beta-glucans contributes to maintenance of normal blood cholesterol concentrations."
